How to Flatten Your Account in Tradovate
Flattening your account in Tradovate ensures all open positions and orders are closed or canceled in the selected account. Follow these steps carefully to flatten your account and manage trades effectively:
Steps to Flatten Your Account
Log In to Tradovate:
- Use your Tradovate credentials to sign in.
Select Simulated Trading:
- Ensure you are in the Simulated Trading environment for proper account management.
Access Equity and P&L:
- Navigate to the Equity and P&L section within Tradovate.
Exit All Positions and Cancel All Orders:
- Click Exit All Positions Cancel All to flatten your account. If you have open positions across multiple accounts, you must flatten each manually. Or if you are copy trading, flatten the lead account first.
Important Notes
Account-Specific Flattening:
- Flattening positions in Tradovate affects only the selected account. Trades in other accounts remain active.
- Double-check that you are flattening the correct account to avoid unintended actions.

Flattening Trades while Group Trading
The account group needs to be selected when closing out a trade. If the account group is not selected, the position will be closed for just one account, and most likely a new, contrary position will be opened.
Example Scenario
Suppose you enter a long position while group trading across three accounts, using a total of three contracts (one per account).
- If you close the trade without selecting the account group, the system will only close the position for one account.
- All three contracts will then be applied to that single account, leaving the other two accounts still long by one contract each, while the first account becomes short by two contracts.
