By Preetika Rana DoorDash Inc. has agreed to buy Bbot, a startup whose order-and-pay software lets customers order food from their mobile phones while seated at restaurants, taking the burden off of eateries.
DoorDash Chief Revenue Officer Tom Pickett told The Wall Street Journal that he found the software attractive because it allows restaurants--currently confronted with a labor shortage--to better manage staff while also helping them turn tables faster.
DoorDash said it would spend $90 million to buy Bbot. Many restaurants have turned off delivery during peak hours as they juggle in-store diners amid a labor crunch.
